 9th Grade.

You can use the present continuous to talk about future plans.

You can use the present continuous for future plans with these words:

  •  Tonight, tomorrow, this weekend
  •  next week/month/year
  •  this summer/fall/winter/spring
  •  on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/etc.
  •  next Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/etc.

I.    II- fill in the blanks below to complete the sentences in present continuous for the future.

                            1.        Sam (have lunch) is having lunch at the cafeteria tomorrow.

                            2.        Hurry! The train (leave) is leaving in ten minutes.

                            3.        I (go) am going to a shopping mall this weekend.

                            4.        Tomorrow is Saturday!  I (sleep) am sleeping late.

                            5.        Sally (play) is playing football tomorrow at two – thirty pm.

                            6.        Is john coming (come) to the party?

III-   On the right you see Kim's diary for the next week. Answer the questions. Leave out the time expressions (see example).

1.   What is Kim doing on Monday evening? She is meeting Tom.

2.   What is she doing on Tuesday afternoon? She is looking after Carol's kids.

3.   What is she doing on Tuesday evening? She is playing badminton.

4.   What is she doing on Wednesday morning? She is seeing the dentist.

5.   What is she doing on Wednesday evening? She is working late.

6.   What is she doing on Thursday afternoon? She is picking up Jen from the airport.

7.   What is she doing on Friday evening? She is going to a concert.

8.   What is she doing on Saturday morning? She is going on a sight-seeing tour with Jen.

9.   What is she doing on Saturday evening? She is having a party.

10. What is she doing on Sunday morning? She is taking Jen to the airport.
